Julie Sykes

Julie Sykes was born in Kingston upon Thames, back when the area still belonged to Surrey and not London. At a very young age, her family moved to Australia, where they spent three happy years traveling and working, with Julie remembering herself trying to learn how to hop like a kangaroo. At school, her greatest loves were reading and creative writing. Although her teachers enjoyed her stories, they always complained about her spelling—a difficulty that still follows her today, often making her consult dictionaries. Today, having left behind her demanding job as a teacher, she is a full-time author. She believes she has the best job in the world, as it allows her to make mischief, ride unicorns, fly with fairies, and swim with mermaids. And of course, the best part of her job? Plenty of cake!
