Panagiotis G. Korliras

Panagiotis Korliras was born in Athens in 1946. He is a graduate of Leonteios School, holds a degree from the Athens University of Economics and Business (formerly ASOEE), and earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Rochester, USA. His specialization is in macroeconomics and monetary theory and policy, with his main contribution to the field being disequilibrium macroeconomics. He has taught as a professor at the University of Pittsburgh, USA, and the University of Aix-Marseille, France. Since 1978, he has been a professor in the Department of Economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business, where in recent years he has taught History of Economic Theories and Monetary Theory. He has published numerous articles in international scientific journals and collective volumes, as well as monographs and books, with the most recent being "Monetary Theory" (Athens, 2000). Alongside his academic activities, he has also served as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Greece, a Member of the Monetary Committee of the European Communities (handling the participation of the Drachma in the European Currency Unit, ECU), and for seven years, he was the Chairman and CEO of Ionian Bank.
