
Ritsa Fragou - Kikilia
Ritsa Frangou-Kikilias (1940-2019), wife of painter Nikos Kikilias (1940-1997), was born on August 20, 1940, in Volos. She completed her education at the Greek-French High School of the "Saint Joseph" Convent School. She then studied philology, history-archaeology, and French philology at the University of Athens and pursued postgraduate studies in classical and modern Greek philology at the University of Göttingen in Germany. As a professor of modern Greek philology at the University of Athens, she taught 19th and 20th-century modern Greek literature at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. A significant part of her scholarly research and academic teaching was dedicated to the work of Angelos Sikelianos. She also focused on the anti-novel in prose fiction, particularly its modern Greek expression, especially in the works of Kostoula Mitropoulou. She was fluent in French, English, German, and Italian, both in speaking and writing. Additionally, she was a graduate of the Advanced Piano School of the Hellenic Conservatory. She published three collections of short stories and her stories appeared in magazines. She passed away on March 14, 2019, at the age of 78.
