Ioanna Kyritsi

Ioanna Kyritsi-Tzioti hails from Naxos and was born in Athens. She is a graduate of Panteion University (Department of Political Science), the Athens School of Early Childhood Education, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Department of Early Childhood Education), and the two-year postgraduate program at the Marasleio Teaching School (Educational Sciences). She worked as a kindergarten teacher in public education for thirty years and served as the head of the educational team at the Spetses Environmental Education Center for four years. She collaborates with public and private organizations in designing and implementing literacy programs for children and creative writing workshops for adults. Since the publication of her first book in 2000, fifty-eight of her titles for children, adolescents, and young readers have been released. Some of these have been reprinted multiple times and translated into English. Her story titled "Santa's Laundry" has been translated into Korean and is included as reading material in the fourth-grade language textbook. Her book "The Seal Who Sang" is recommended for reading in the "Environment" section of the fifth-grade language textbook. She is a member of the Women's Literary Society, where her entries have been recognized twice in competitions. For her overall pedagogical and literary work, she has been awarded a prize by UNESCO. She is married and the mother of a daughter.
