David Almond

David Almond was born in Felling, England, in 1951 and grew up in a large Catholic family. As a child, he often visited his neighborhood library and dreamed that one day his name would be written on the books lining the library shelves. Indeed, today David Almond is considered one of the most exciting authors of children's novels, and his books have become bestsellers worldwide. He lives with his family in Northumberland, England. He is the recipient of the Whitbread Children's Book Award, the Smarties Book Prize Gold Award, and the international Hans Christian Andersen Award, the most prestigious award in children's literature.
