I was born in Thessaloniki and I would like to die in Central Asia, right on the Silk Road. I started writing at the age of eight. Initially, I wrote secretly, prayers and profanities. Then essays, poems. I attempted to write a novel: "The Girl with the Gray Hair." Since then, I haven't stopped writing anything and everything, everywhere. Short stories, one-act plays, scripts, archaeological articles, book reviews, lectures, essays, humorous pieces, recommendation letters, encyclopedia entries, announcements for scientific conferences, political manifestos and articles, newspaper columns, lyrics for folk songs, greetings for political gatherings, even for a wedding in Ashgabat, where I was invited when I visited Turkmenistan. I wrote introductory reports for doctoral dissertations and faculty elections, advertising texts, "speeches" for the parliament, both in principle and in detail. I also wrote two eulogies, one for Kitsos Makris and one for Manolis Andronikos! And on a wall, when I was a scout, I wrote in big red letters "I love you." As time goes by, I write incessantly because what I want to write, I haven't written yet! And when I have nothing else to write, I will take the Silk Road! Giorgos Hourmouziadis, emeritus professor of archaeology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and former MP for the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) in Thessaloniki A, was born in November 1935 in Thessaloniki. He studied at the Faculty of Philosophy at AUTH. In 1981, he was elected professor of Prehistoric Archaeology at the Faculty of Philosophy at AUTH. In 1983, he became the dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at AUTH, and in 1985, he became vice-rector at the same university. He was closely associated with the excavations at the lake settlement of Dispilio. He passed away on October 16, 2013, at the age of 81.
