Robert Irwin

Robert Irwin was born in 1946 in Guildford, England, where he currently lives and works. He is a historian and Arabist, a critic, and a novelist, and a member of the Royal Society of Literature. He studied at the University of Oxford and later worked, among other roles, as a researcher at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London. Since 1977, while not completely abandoning his academic career, he has devoted more time to fiction writing. His first novel, "The Arabian Nightmare" (1983), published by Dedalus, was highly successful and translated into twenty languages. It is his most well-known work and is regarded by critics as one of the best works of Fantasy Literature of the 20th century. This was followed by six more novels: "The Limits of Vision" (1986), "The Mysteries of Algiers" (1988), "Exquisite Corpse" (1995), "Prayer-Cushions of the Flesh" (1997), "Satan Wants Me" (1999), and "Wonders Will Never Cease" (2016).
