CHristos CH. Papadimitriou

Christos Papadimitriou was born in Athens in 1949. After studying at the Polytechnic, he went to America, where since 1976, he has been teaching Computer Science at Harvard University (where he was Bill Gates' professor), MIT, Stanford, and the University of California, Berkeley, where he currently holds the C. Lester Hogan Chair of Computer Science. In addition to his Ph.D. (Princeton, 1976), he was awarded an honorary doctorate by ETH Zurich in 1997. He is internationally recognized as a leading researcher in Computer Science, having published hundreds of research papers, and his books (Theory of Computation, Combinatorial Optimization, Computational Complexity, among others) have been translated into many languages. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering in the USA. He lives with his family in California and Greece.
