Grigoris M. Sifakis

G. M. Sifakis is an emeritus professor of ancient Greek philology at the University of Thessaloniki and a former Alexander S. Onassis Professor of Ancient Greek Philology and Modern Greek Culture at New York University (1992-2003). He has also taught at the Universities of California, Thessaloniki, and Crete. His research activities and publications focus on the stage interpretation of ancient drama, the poetics of narrative in ancient, medieval, and modern literature, and traditional literature. Among his works are: "Parabasis and Animal Choruses" (1971); "Για μια ποιητική του ελληνικού δημοτικού τραγουδιού" (1988); "Aristotle on the Function of Tragic Poetry" (2003).
