Dimitris Laletas

The painter Dimitris Laletas was born in Alexandroupoli on October 14, 1964. He moved to Athens at the age of 25, in 1990, and became the illustrator for the magazine and publishing house Odos Panos, designing their emblem featuring Pan. He worked for 20 years with the same publishing house and translated English bands for them. In his works, he depicted faces of men, women, and children. Nature was also a prominent theme, as he grew up in Alexandroupoli, where the lighthouse, surrounding fields, trees, rivers, the Evros Delta, and the port were not far away. His last series of works, which he presented, was called Nocturnes, where horses are depicted in the darkness with riders holding them by the reins. He held solo exhibitions at Bilieto Paianias, the Hellenic American Union, and Babel, and participated in group exhibitions at K-Art Gallery and Babel. His paintings and drawings were published in LIFO, Symbol, among others. He was a regular contributor to the Library-Sanctuary of Game, in the Saturday edition of Eleftherotypia, from March 2009. He passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2011, after a valiant battle with cancer.
