Lampros Kamperidis

Father Lambros Kamperidis was born in Constantinople, grew up in Athens, and has been living in Montreal since 1970. He studied Byzantine History under Professor Nikolaos Oikonomides. As a founding member of the Society for the Study of Modern Hellenism at the University of Montreal, he collaborated with Professor Jacques Bouchard in their joint effort to bring attention to the era of the Phanariots and its almost unknown protagonists, who significantly contributed to the intellectual, social, and political development of Southeastern Europe. An author of numerous books, he regularly publishes articles in the magazine Atelier du roman (Paris). Some of his works' titles reflect his literary and historical interests: "The Greek Monasteries of Sozopolis," "The Marriages of Heaven and Earth," "Give Me This Stranger," "From Bret Harte to Papadiamantis." Together with Denise Harvey, he also publishes translations of Papadiamantis' works into English, with two volumes already available: "The Boundless Garden" and "The Murderess." He teaches at the French-speaking University of Sherbrooke in Quebec and serves as a priest at the parish of Saints Constantine and Helen in the western suburbs of the Island of Montreal.
