
Thomas More
Sir Thomas More (1487-1535) was a distinguished author and politician. He wrote "The History of King Richard III," "Utopia," "The Four Last Things," and engaged in studies of ancient Greek authors. He was imprisoned by Henry VIII for refusing to acknowledge the king's successors from his marriage to Anne Boleyn. While in prison, he wrote "A Dialogue of Comfort against Tribulation," in which he denied the king's infringement on religious conscience. He was executed by beheading on July 6, 1535. In 1935, he was canonized as a saint
