
Roula Kaklamanaki
Roula Kaklamanaki (1935-2013) was born in Piraeus to parents from Monemvasia. She studied law at the University of Athens. She worked as a judicial officer, judge, and lawyer. From 1981 to 1989, she was elected twice as a Member of Parliament for Athens A with PASOK and served as Deputy Minister of Social Insurance (1981-1986) and Education (1988). She published eight poetry collections, two novels, one novella, two narratives, as well as essays, biographies, and translations. Additionally, she curated the anthologies "Contemporary Hungarian Poets" and "New Greek Poets." She contributed as a columnist to newspapers and magazines and served as the editor-in-chief of the magazine "Hellenic Quarterly" and as vice president of the Board of Directors of the Society of Authors. She passed away on January 5, 2013, at Alexandra Hospital, at the age of 77.
