
Andreas Kapardis
Andreas Kapardis was born and raised in Cyprus. He studied English literature, psychology, and criminology, and earned his Ph.D. in criminology from the University of Cambridge. He taught (as a lecturer and senior lecturer) at the School of Law and Legal Studies at La Trobe University (Melbourne) until 1996, and since 1997, he has been teaching at the University of Cyprus, initially as an associate professor of Social and Political Sciences and later (in 2000) as a full professor. He has also taught as a visiting professor at the Institute of Criminology at the University of Cambridge and is an elected lifelong member of Clare Hall at the same university. He graduated as a senior investigator from the Police Detective School of the Melbourne Police and served as the director of the Central Prisons of Cyprus. Outside the academic community, he has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Crime Council of the Republic of Cyprus and an elected member of the seven-member Scientific Criminological Council of Europe in Strasbourg. He has numerous international scientific publications related to his field.
