
Alessandro Baricco
Alessandro Baricco was born in 1958 in Turin. He has written several novels, plays, and essays. His first novel, "Dreams of Glass," 1991 (Patakis Publications, 2001), was shortlisted for the Campiello Prize in Italy and was awarded the Prix Médicis étranger in France. "Ocean Sea," 1993 (Patakis Publications, 1999), received the Viareggio and Palazzo al Bosco awards in Italy. This was followed by "Silk," 1996 (Patakis Publications, 1997), which was translated into more than thirty languages and adapted into a film. In 2004, he also published a contemporary version of the "Iliad" (Patakis Publications, 2006). His works available in Greek also include "Novecento: A Monologue," 1994 (Agra, 2002), "City," 1999 (Patakis Publications, 2001), "Without Blood," 2002 (Patakis Publications, 2005), "A Story Like a Fairy Tale," 2005 (Patakis Publications, 2008), and "To Emmaus," 2009 (Patakis Publications, 2012).
