Apostolos Diamantis was born in Kala Nera, Magnesia, in 1955. He studied economics in Athens and history in Paris. He holds a Ph.D. in "History of the Post-Byzantine World" from the University of Paris 1. He collaborated with the Historical Archive of the National Bank of Greece (IA/ETE) and the Modern Greek Studies Center of the National Research Foundation (KNE/EIE). He taught "History of Modern Hellenism" at the University of the Peloponnese and "Historical Sources and Methodology" at the University of Athens. He is a regular contributor to the newspaper Eleftherotypia. His published books include "Enigmatic Figures" (Estia 2001), "Types of Merchants and Forms of Consciousness in Modern Greece" (Estia 2007), "From the Schism to the EU" (Patakis 2007, in collaboration with Vasilis Kardasis), and "Nation and Institutions during the Ottoman Rule" (Alternative Editions 2013).
