Jalaluddin Rumi
Mevlana Jalaluddin Muhammad Balkhi (Rumi) (1207-1273 AD) is one of the greatest mystical poets worldwide, who sets humanity on a path of divine love with God. He is a globally renowned spiritual creator. After meeting "Shams," he abandoned teaching and preaching to unite with God's beloved ones. His devoted student and follower, Husam al-Din Celebi, urged him to write a work to leave as a legacy for future generations. Rumi responded to Husam al-Din's request and dictated his monumental work "Masnavi," which is an ocean of mystical philosophy. He wrote his work in the Persian language with a childlike enthusiasm for life and humanity, enriched with his diverse knowledge. His writing style is original and unique, inspired by divine love.
Jalaluddin Balkhi received an excellent Islamic education from his father, who was a great religious teacher and held the title Sultan al-Ulama. Thanks to this knowledge, his verses include many Quranic passages and hadiths. He was also familiar with Greek philosophy, which he references in his works. Due to his excellent education and love of learning, he uses some Greek words in his poems.
