Robert W. Chambers
Robert William Chambers was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 26, 1865. He initially graduated from the Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and began studying fine arts at the age of twenty. From 1886 to 1893, he attended classes at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Upon returning to the U.S., he worked as an illustrator for magazines such as Life, Truth, and Vogue. For unknown reasons, he abandoned drawing and painting and began publishing horror stories, quickly becoming one of the most prominent authors in the genre. He passed away in New York on December 16, 1933, having dedicated the last years of his life solely to writing historical novels.
