Anestis Konstantinidis

Anestis Konstantinidis
Anestis Konstantinidis, of Cypriot origin, was born in 1846. The son of a philologist, he studied philology at the University of Athens but did not pursue a career in education. Initially, he founded a small bookstore and publishing house. In 1884, he purchased the large printing presses of Andreas Koromilas. It can be said that within two decades, he transformed publishing in Greece. The most prominent names in Greek intellectual circles of the time were his regular collaborators, including K. Paparrigopoulos with his five-volume history, G. N. Hatzidakis, A. Rhangavis, Giannaris, Zikidis, and many others. His main work was the publication in Greek of the Liddell-Scott Dictionary, "Mega Lexicon of the Greek Language," with an introductory study by G. N. Hatzidakis, a professor of linguistics at the University of Athens. He passed away in 1901.
