Ilias Kanellis

Ilias Kanellis was born on October 3, 1960. In 1984, while still a student, he launched the film magazine "Camera" and has since remained active in the fields of journalism, cinema, and film criticism. He has worked in the press industry in nearly every capacity: proofreader, content editor, reporter, art critic, political analyst, columnist, chief editor, and editorial director. For many years, he was a film critic for the magazine "Anti" and also hosted a daily show on the radio station Athens 9.84. In recent years, he has been working for the newspaper "Ta Nea." Additionally, in the summer of 2007, he published the newspaper "ef" for the Hellenic Festival. Together with Manolis Vasilakis, he launched the book review journal "The Athens Review of Books" in 2009. He left it in 2010 to continue independently with "The Books' Journal." He is the author of the book "Ethnohooliganism: Expressions of Modern Greek Ideology at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games" (published by Oxy) and has edited the film monographs "Stavros Tornes" (with Stavros Kaplanidis and, for the Italian edition, with additional collaboration from Sergio Grmek Germani), "Costa-Gavras," and "Stavros Tsiolis."
