Sally Gardner

Sally Gardner was born and raised in London to parents who were judges. She is dyslexic and learned to read and write after the age of fourteen. She was expelled from several schools, labeled as incapable of learning, and attended a special school. Nevertheless, she graduated with honors from one of London's most renowned art colleges, received a scholarship to study at a drama school, and went on to become a successful costume designer, creating theatrical costumes for some outstanding theater productions. After the birth of her twin daughters and a son, she began illustrating and writing books for young children. Her books have been greatly loved by young readers and have been translated into many languages. The esteemed newspaper "The Sunday Times" of London has called her a "strange genius." "I, Coriander" is her first book aimed at an older audience. She lives in London.
