Georgios E. Mylonas

Georgios Emmanuel Mylonas (1899-1988) was one of the most prominent archaeologists of the 20th century. He was born in Smyrna in 1899. He conducted excavations in Olynthus, Mycenae, Nemea, Corinth, and Eleusis. He served as a professor of prehistoric Greek archaeology, classical Greek art and archaeology at Washington University and was the chair of the Department of Art History and Archaeology at the same university. He was buried in Mycenae.
