Giannis Sokos

Giannis Sokos is a journalist and communication specialist. He was born in Diminio, Corinthia, in 1949. He studied Political Science at Panteion University and Journalism. In Athens, he collaborated with well-known Communication and Marketing firms. He served as the general director of ATE Advertising and was involved in Political and Commercial Advertising. He taught Screenwriting and Creative Writing at the Hellenic Productivity Center (ELKEPA), as well as in private and public Institutes of Vocational Training, and at the Center for Journalism and Communication. He wrote television, film, and radio scripts and texts for Greek Television, Thessaloniki Municipal Radio, and Athenian and Regional Media. For several years, he maintained the humorous page "Aido kai tora" in the first Greek edition of the internationally circulated magazine "Penthouse," as well as the satirical, political column "Osei Paron" in the newspaper "To Paron tis Kyriakis." His short stories and poems have been published in literary and art magazines, as well as in the literary pages of the daily press ("Nea," "Vradyni," etc.). He was the editor-in-chief of the literary magazine "Ombrela." He authored the books: "Counting the Hours in a Green Province," "Pending Matters," "Almost Heroes," "Stories of Limited Responsibility," "Manual for Aspiring Prime Ministers," "In the Age of DinoTaurus," "In the Service of His Majesty," "Maximus Anthropacius," "Heracles Awaited." He served as General Secretary and Vice President of the Union of Provincial Press Editors. He is a member of the Hellenic Authors' Society and one of the founders of the United Authors' Movement. He participates in the Board of Directors of the Corinthian Writers' Society. He has been honored with awards and accolades.
