
Martin Rees
Sir Martin Rees, a globally recognized cosmologist, is a cosmologist and astrophysicist who holds the position of Astronomer Royal in the United Kingdom. He has served as the President of Trinity College and Director of the Institute of Astronomy at the University of Cambridge. As a member of the House of Lords and former President of the Royal Society of London, he is a prominent figure in international science and technological risk issues. He has published over 500 scientific papers and contributed to the discovery of the cosmic microwave background and the formation of galaxy clusters. His work on the distribution of quasars provided strong evidence supporting the Big Bang theory as the origin of the Universe. In 2005, he was awarded the Crafoord Prize in Astronomy. Among his books are "Our Cosmic Habitat," "Just Six Numbers," and "Our Final Hour."
