
Nikos G. Moschonas
Nikos G. Moschonas is a Historian, Emeritus Research Director at the Institute of Byzantine Research of the National Hellenic Research Foundation, and an honorary researcher at Royal Holloway, University of London. He has been a researcher at the Hellenic Institute of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies in Venice. He has reconstructed the Historical Archive of Kefalonia and conducted numerous scientific research missions in archives both in Greece and abroad. At the National Hellenic Research Foundation, beyond his research activities, he organized and directs the Historical Sciences Workshop aimed at imparting specialized knowledge to young scientists. He is also the scientific director of the "Archaeology of the City of Athens" program (www.eie.gr/archaeologia). He has taught in secondary and higher education. His research focuses on the relations between Byzantine and modern Hellenism and the West, and his written work includes numerous scientific studies and articles in Greek, Italian, and English, with some studies translated into French and German. Additionally, he is involved in art criticism and essays and has translated works by foreign authors (Lorca, Machiavelli, Neruda, Pavese, Pirandello, Prevert, Puppa, Wilde, and others). Foreign theatrical works translated by him have been staged. For his work, he has been honored by the Italian Republic with the distinction of Cavaliere.
