CHaralampos - Dimitris Gounelas

H.-D. Gounelas was born in Athens. In the 1960s, he emigrated to New Zealand, where he studied Russian and English Literature and Political Science at Victoria University of Wellington. He continued his postgraduate studies in Modern Greek Literature at King's College London. He has taught at King's College, the University of Crete, the University of Sydney, and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medieval and Modern Greek Studies. His publications include studies and book reviews in Greek and international journals, and among others, the monographs: "The Socialist Consciousness in Modern Greek Literature 1897-1912," Kedros Publications, Athens, 1984, and "The Philosophy of Language and Modern Greek Poetry," Delfini Publications, 1995. His research interests focus on the following topics in relation to Modern Greek literature: Socialism, the Philosophy of Language, and Western Marxism.
