Kostas Mpalachoutis
Kostas Balachoutis was born and raised in Athens. He studied Electrical Engineering at the Technological Institutes of Kozani and Chalkida and at the University of Bologna in Italy. In early 2001, his first book, "Heartless Authorities," was published by Atrapos Editions, focusing on the journey and evolution of popular music—in the broadest sense—during the turbulent 1970s. He then edited the biography of popular singer Vangelis Perpiniadis, titled "Before the End," published by Proskinio Editions, and contributed to Tasos Karaiskos' book "Manolis Angelopoulos, The Great Gypsy, As I Knew Him..." by Atrapos Editions, where he was responsible for writing the preface and conducting research. In 2002, the groundbreaking "Music Diary 2002 for Friends of Popular Music" was published by Atrapos Editions and quickly sold out. The music diaries released in 2003 by Atrapos Editions were similarly well-received from the outset. Alongside his writing, he has collaborated with newspapers and magazines, worked with record companies as an editor of music releases, and served as a consultant for radio and television music programs. His lyrics were recently set to music by the skilled musician and composer Christos Papadopoulos on the album "The Children from Patras Present the Great Ladies." He is also the editor-in-chief of the music magazine "Difono."
