Anastasios Maras
Anastasios Maras was born in Thessaloniki and is a father of four. He holds a degree in Theology (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, 1988), a Master's Degree (Patristic Institute Augustinianum, Rome, 1990), a Doctorate in Theology (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, 2000), a Postdoctoral Studies Certificate (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, 2003), and a degree in Library Science (Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki, 2003). He is proficient in English, French, Italian, Spanish, and Romanian. He has received State Certification for Computer Use. He has participated in research programs at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the National Hellenic Research Foundation. He has taught in Secondary Ecclesiastical Education and the Higher Ecclesiastical School of Thessaloniki. Currently, he teaches at the Higher Ecclesiastical Academy of Thessaloniki, specializing in "Interpretation of Patristic Texts," and in the Master's Program "Studies in Orthodox Theology" at the Hellenic Open University. He has served as a trainer (128 hours) in programs of the National Center for Public Administration and Local Government, as well as the Organization for the Training of Educators (OEPEK), and has attended 348 hours of training programs in Greece and Spain. He has held positions as Deputy Director and Director of a high school, and as an Officer in the School Libraries and Environmental Education Offices of the Directorate of Studies at the Central Service of the Ministry of Education. He is a member of the International Association of Patristic Studies (A.I.E.P.) and has participated as a speaker in 36 national and international conferences or seminars. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal Papyri (Thessaloniki) and a member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journals Byzantine House (Thessaloniki) and Philosophical Analects (Thessaloniki). He has published 9 monographs and 67 articles in collective volumes and scientific journals in Greece and abroad (Augustinianum, Byzantine House, Gregory Palamas, Theology, Heritage, The Educational, Parnassos, Macednon, Historical Topics, Philosophical Analects, etc.). His main independent works include: Saint Patrick of Ireland: New Insights into His Life and Works (1993), The Eschatology of Saint Gregory of Nyssa (2002), The Face of Christ in Philosophers and Apologists (2003), Religious Studies for First-Year High School - A Guide (2004), Church - Environment - Education (Editor, 2004), Introduction to Informatics: Theology and Informatics (2005), The Views of Greek Apologists and Eusebius of Caesarea on Art (2006), Patristic Theology and Christian Culture (2008), The Greek Orthodox Church: From the Fall of Constantinople to Today (2012), Contemporary Scientific Technography (2014), Saint Demetrius of Thessaloniki: The Life of the Saint and the History of the Church (2019). He is Vice President of the Association of Journalists of Electronic and Periodical Press of Macedonia Thrace (E.DI.P.I.T. Macedonia-Thrace) and the Galini Oraiokastro Badminton Club (O.A.G.O.). He has contributed articles to newspapers and magazines in Thessaloniki, Athens, Ioannina, and Patmos. He is a founding member of the Society of Northern Greek Writers and a member of the Society of Macedonian Studies, the Foundation for National and Religious Reflection, and the Academy of Institutions and Cultures. In 2006, he was awarded by the Association of Publishers of Northern Greece (SEKVE) for his contribution to Greek literature. In 2017, he published the bilingual poetry collection: Momentum: Poesia italogreca e grecoitalica - Italo-Greek and Greco-Italian Poetry.
