Dr. Eleni Kourmantzi, a Lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Ioannina, hails from Ioannina. She is a mother of three. Her academic and teaching activities focus on the intellectual production of the Epirus region, particularly the city of Ioannina. Her doctoral thesis is titled "The Intellectual Movement of Ioannina from the Late 18th Century to the Early Decades of the 19th Century," with reference points including the Ioannina expatriates and the works of Psallidas and Vilaras. Her published studies focus on figures such as Ch. Christovasilis, K. Krystallis, N. Konemenos, G. Hatzi-Pelleren, D. Hatzis, and Yosef Eliyah. Since 1997, she has established the teaching of Yosef Eliyah's poetry in the Departments of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Ioannina. Her research interest in the History and Culture of the Jewish Community of Ioannina began in 1992, prompted by a Scientific Symposium on the author of "The End of Our Small Town," Dimitris Hatzis, organized by the Municipality of Ioannina and the University of Ioannina.
