Massimo Carlotto

Massimo Carlotto was born in Padua in 1956 and has been living in Cagliari since 1996. In 1976, he was accused of a murder he did not commit, fled to Central America, later surrendered to the Italian authorities, and was eventually pardoned by the President of the Italian Republic in 1994. In 1995, he published an autobiographical book titled "The Fugitive." This was followed in 1996 by "The Truth of the Alligator," the first in a series of five crime novels with a "noir tint and blues mood," incorporating many autobiographical elements. He is considered a revitalizer of the modern Italian noir novel. To date, he has written over twenty novels and published an equal number of short story collections. His books, usually crime novels, have a strong socio-political color and have been translated into many languages worldwide.
