Jim Al-Khalili
Jim Al-Khalili was born in 1962. He received his Ph.D. in theoretical nuclear physics from the University of Surrey in Guildford in 1989. After working at University College London, he returned to Surrey in 1992 as a professor of theoretical physics. His research interests focus on studying the properties of atomic nuclei that contain a halo of neutrons. He is an active member of the European Nuclear Physics Public Information Committee. Jim Al-Khalili serves as a representative of the British Institute of Physics in schools, and since 1998, he has been giving lectures, fulfilling what he truly enjoys: spreading science and its achievements to the general public. He has appeared alongside Roger Penrose in BBC documentaries and is a nominee for the Michael Faraday Prize of the Royal Society. He lives in Portsmouth, Hampshire, with his wife and their two children.
