Giorgos Kokotos

George Kokotos was born in October 1936 in Crete. He spent the war years there, as well as his early school years. He graduated from the Second Boys' High School of Athens and then attended the National Technical University of Athens, where he earned degrees in Rural and Surveying Engineering and Civil Engineering. He worked on urban planning studies, the relocation of landslide-affected settlements in Evrytania, and the design and implementation of town plans. Later, he focused on the study and construction of mainly building projects, both private and public, in Rhodes and Crete. He is the creator of luxury hotel units in Elounda, Crete, and the founder of the estate G. Kokotos and the wine company Semeli, producer of wines bearing the same name. He served for many years on the boards of the Greek Wine Association and is a regular member of the Archaeological Society. From a young age, he was involved in sports, initially as a swimmer, then as a track and field athlete with the Panhellenic Athletic Club, and later as a member of the Hellenic Offshore Racing Club and a skipper in offshore sailing races. Additionally, he was involved in the administration of sports clubs, serving as vice president of the Hellenic Offshore Racing Club, president of the Athens Equestrian Club, a member of the Hellenic Equestrian Federation, and president of the Equestrian Triathlon Technical Committee. In recent years, he has devoted himself to golf. He is married and has two sons, a daughter, and a granddaughter.
