Maria Mpelogianni

Maria Belogianni was born in Kalamata. She holds a Ph.D. in Archaeology from the University of Athens and serves in Secondary Education. Since 1999, she has been working as a philologist at the Varvakeio School. She collaborated for three years with Professor G. Lavvas at the Laboratory for the Management and Promotion of Cultural Environment, which belonged to the Department of Communication and Mass Media at the University of Athens. Since 1997, she has been contributing articles to magazines such as "National Geographic," "Corpus," "Greek Panorama," "Gaiorama," "Nemesis," "Passport," and the newspaper "Kathimerini." She authored the monograph titled "The Argonautic Expedition: Myth and Reality," published in 2002 by the magazine "Corpus," in the series: History of Civilizations, and the texts in the album "Ancient Signs in Their Landscape," published in 2004 by Patakis Editions, available in Greek, English, and French. Additionally, she has edited the texts of students from the Varvakeio Experimental Gymnasium included in the collective edition titled "The World of Children (inspired by a photograph by Nikos Economopoulos)," published by Gavriilidis, Athens 2008, and the album "150 Years of Varvakeio: School Life in a Historic School," published by the Varvakeio Foundation in 2013. She is a member of the Society for the Study of Ancient Greek Technology and the Association "Diazoma." As a doctor of archaeology and philologist, she has participated with presentations in numerous scientific seminars and conferences in Greece and abroad, while also contributing to reputable scientific journals.
