Markos Tsetsos

Markos Tsetsos (b. 1968) holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from the University of Athens and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Music Studies there, where he has been serving since 1995. As a conductor, a graduate of the State Conservatory of St. Petersburg, he has collaborated with the most prominent orchestras in Athens (Athens State Orchestra, ERT Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of the Greek National Opera, Camerata). As a guitarist, a student of Dimitris Fampas, he has been awarded in international competitions and has recorded a total of four vinyl and CD albums. He has published the book "Will and Sound: The Metaphysics of Music in Schopenhauer's Philosophy" (Estia, 2004), "Nationalism and Populism in Modern Greek Music" (Sakis Karagiorgas Foundation, 2011), "Elements and Environments of Music" (Fagotto-Books, 2012), and is the translator of classic philosophical texts: "Hegel, The Aesthetics of Music" (Estia, 2002) and "Hanslick, On the Beautiful in Music" (Exandas, 2003). He has published numerous studies in Greek and international journals and collective volumes on musicology and philosophy. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal "Musicology" and a scientific collaborator of the journal "Axiologika."
