
Philip Reeve
Philip Reeve was born in 1966 and grew up in Brighton. He worked for many years in a bookstore before turning to illustration. He illustrated numerous books, including the series Horrible Histories, Murderous Maths, and Dead Famous. He began writing at the age of five, but Mortal Engines is his first published book. Released in 2001 in the UK by Scholastic Press, the book quickly became a bestseller and was translated into many languages worldwide. It won the Gold Smarties Prize (The Nestle Smarties Book Prize 2002) and was shortlisted for the Whitbread Book Award (2002). He lives in Dartmoor with his wife, Sarah, and also engages in painting.
