Kristy Emilio Ioannidou

Kristy Emilio Ioannidou was born and lives in Athens. She studied psychology, etymology, and history. She is an author and researcher of Naval History (former Merchant Navy officer) specializing in topics and studies related to ancient Greek shipping. She has developed a notable writing career, publishing books and more than 200 articles, studies, monographs, and analyses in specialized journals, university publications, and magazines issued by specialized bodies such as the Hellenic Navy General Staff. She has participated in Greek and international documentaries, seminars, lectures, and conferences [including the Naval History Service, the Hellenic Naval Staff and Command College, the Hellenic Navy Petty Officers Academy, the Signal School, and the PULTUSK Academy of Humanities in Poland]. She has been honored with awards and accolades for her research in Naval History. Kristy is the creator and administrator of the blog "Peri Alos" (www.perialos.blogspot.gr), and a member of the Hellenic Institute of Strategic Studies, the Hellenic Submariners Association, the Historical Studies Association "Koryvantes," and the Hellenic Maritime Museum. She is married to journalist and defense analyst Ioannis S. Theodoratos, with whom she has a daughter.
