Loukas TH. Apostolidis

Lukas Th. Apostolidis was born in 1951 in Agia Anna, Boeotia. He studied at the Law School of Athens and pursued postgraduate studies in labor relations law at the University of Nanterre Paris-X. He specialized in labor law and social insurance. He completed a course at the Ecole Pratique in France on the creation of social movements and civil society. He was elected as a Member of Parliament for Boeotia with PASOK in every election from November 1989 to the elections of 2004. In 2007, he was a candidate for MP in the B' Athens district. He served as Vice President of the Hellenic Parliament (1996-2000). In 2001, he became Deputy Minister of National Defense, a position he held until July 2003. He was a founding member of PASOK and was continuously elected to the Central Committee. For many years, he was the Secretary of the Trade Union and Social Policy Committee of the PASOK Central Committee. He ceased his political career in 2009. He was the creator of the "Center for Documentation and Education Studies" (KEMETE) of the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE), which evolved into the "Labor Institute - GSEE/ADEDY," providing scientific documentation of labor claims, as well as labor and trade union education. His writing career is extensive, spanning from 1974 to the present, with literary and scientific books, as well as articles in the daily press. His book "Testimony from the Bloody Student Movement 1967-1974" marked his life.
