Giorgos Konstantinou

Giorgos Konstantinou was born in Athens and studied at the Drama School of the Art Theatre, founded by Karolos Koun. He is the son of actress Nitsa Filosofou. As an actor, he has performed in various theatrical genres, including ancient comedy, Shakespeare, classic works from the international repertoire such as those by Brecht and Tennessee Williams, as well as works by contemporary playwrights and revue. He has also collaborated with leading Greek writers such as A. Sakellarios, D. Psathas, A. Yalamas, K. Pretenderis, I. Kampanellis, among others. He starred in numerous productions, including "Art," "Les Misérables," "The Inspector," "The Nannies," "The Birds," "Plutus," "The Women at the Thesmophoria," "The Dresser," "The Imaginary Invalid," and more. In cinema, he starred in well-known films such as "The Woman Should Fear the Man," "Welcome Dollar," "Heartbeats at the Desk," "Wake Up Vassilis," "The Jealous Woman," "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," as well as in films he directed himself, like "5,000 Lies," "A Man for All Jobs," "The KOPANOI," among others. Since the early 1970s, he has also been involved in writing plays and scripts. In theater, he wrote and directed for major stars such as L. Konstantaras, M. Kontou, R. Vlachopoulou, Nt. Iliopoulos, Th. Karakatsanis, and others. His theatrical works that have been presented include "The Imaginary World of Makrypodi," "A Virgin for Me," "The Lords of the Lord," "The Wolf Even When Old," "Citizen of Third Class," "The Last Pasokrators," "The Last One Close the Door," among others. He first appeared on television in 1971 by writing the comedy series "Doctor Tik," in which he also starred. In the following decades, he created many television series, such as "Human Stories," "Let the World Laugh," "Three and the Cuckoo," "Don't Turn Your Back on Me," "Father, Son, and Spirit," "The Seven Curses of My Fate," "Secretary for Tears," among others. In 2006, he was honored with the "Panathinea" award for his performance in a revue sketch, and in 2010, he received the Audience Award from "Athinorama" for his performance in the play "The Dresser." As he himself says, it doesn't matter which theatrical genre you serve. What matters is believing in it and delivering it with your soul. Then everything is art.
