
Albert Ellis
Albert Ellis, Ph.D., is a psychologist and the founder of the Albert Ellis Institute in New York, which implements the renowned Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) and serves as a central hub for many therapeutic centers worldwide. Among his most well-known books are "How to Keep People from Pushing Your Buttons," "Sex Without Guilt," "Anger: How to Live with and without It," and "A New Guide to Rational Living." He has authored over fifty books on psychotherapy. In the United States, his peers regard him as the second most influential psychologist (with Carl Rogers being the first and Sigmund Freud the third), while in Canada, he is considered the most significant of all. He made groundbreaking contributions to American psychotherapy starting in 1955 when he developed Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), the first of the popular cognitive-behavioral therapies.
