Vagelis Papachristos

Vangelis Papachristos was born in 1943 in Saranda, Albania. He completed his studies at the Pedagogical Academy in the Greek language in Gjirokastër and later at the Higher Pedagogical Institute in Tirana, specializing in biology and chemistry. For many years, he worked as a teacher in various schools of the National Greek Minority. His father was a victim of the dictatorial regime, and his family suffered many hardships. He is one of the founding members of the organization "Omonia" of the National Greek Minority. He served as the President of Omonia for the Saranda branch for two years and as the General Secretary of Omonia for four years. He is one of the Five Leaders of Omonia who were imprisoned and tried by the Berisha regime in the infamous show trial in Tirana. Since 1962, he has been a contributor to the newspaper "Laiko Vima," and today he is the assistant editor of this newspaper and the editor-in-chief of the trilingual newspaper "2000." In 1998, he published his first children's book titled "Learning While Having Fun," and in 1997, his autobiographical book with sketches, "The Koulia Boy."
