CHloi Koutsoumpeli

Chloe Koutsoumpeli was born in Thessaloniki in 1962. She studied law at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and worked for eighteen years in the banking sector. In 1984, at the age of 22, she published her first poetry collection titled "Relations of Silence" (Egnatia Publishing), followed by several other poetry collections: "The Night is a Whale" (1990, Loxias Bookstore Editions), "The Departure of Lady Kappa" (2004, Nea Poreia Editions), "The Lake, the Garden, and the Loss" (2006, Nea Poreia Editions), "The Fox and the Red Dance" (2009, Gavriilidis Editions), "In the Ancient World, Night Falls Early" (2012, Gavriilidis Editions), "Clinically Absent" (2014, Gavriilidis Editions), "The Tablemates of the Other Land" (2016, Gavriilidis Editions, State Poetry Award, jointly with "The Roses of Mercedes" by St. Polenakis, 2017), "The Note on Despere Street" (2018, Polis Editions). Her novels include "Whispered" (2002, Paratiritis Editions) and "Mr. Klein's Assistant" (2017, Melani Editions), as well as her plays: "Orpheus at the Bar" (2005, Parodos Editions) and "The Sacred Vessel" (2015, Thines Editions). The 47th issue of the literary magazine "Parodos" by Kostas Th. Rizakis in September 2011 is dedicated to her work. She has collaborated with literary magazines such as "Paratiritis," "Revma," "Entefktirio," "Nea Poreia," "Parodos," "Emvolimon," "Planodion," "Mandragoras," "Koukoutsi," "Porphyra," "Eneken" (where she was responsible for the literature pages), "Diodos," "Nea Efthini," as well as online magazines like e-poema, poeticanet, diastixo, poiein, thraca, Bibliotheque, and others. Her first four poetry collections are available online as e-books, along with two other electronic books titled "Traffic Ban" and "The Secret Life of Poems," featuring her poems and photographs by Panagiotis Papatheodoropoulos. In 2013, a poetry anthology titled "Cloe and Alexandra" was published in Canada by Libros Libertad, featuring her poems and those of Alexandra Bakonika, translated into English by Manolis Aligizakis. She is a member of the Thessaloniki Literary Society, the Society of Authors, and the Circle of Poets. Her poems have been translated into Italian and published in the Italian magazine "Voce de la luna," into Bulgarian (magazine "Parodos," issue 47), German, and French.
