Tzina Kalogirou
Gina Kalogirou studied Pedagogy and Literature at the University of Athens, where she completed her doctoral dissertation on the topic: Issues of Interpretation and Teaching in the Work of Yiannis Ritsos (The Case of the Iconostasis of Anonymous Saints) (1994). She has been a faculty member of the Department of Primary Education at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens since 1996 and has been a Professor since 2013, specializing in "Modern Greek Literature and its Teaching." She directs the Inter-University and Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program "Rhetoric: Theory and Practice." As a temporary Senior Research Visiting Fellow, she collaborated with King's College London (2008-2010). She taught a series of courses at the Faculty of Philosophy at the Free University of Brussels in Belgium. She has also taught in postgraduate programs at other universities in Greece and abroad (University of Thessaly, University of Western Macedonia, Bergen University College, among others) and has given seminar lectures at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Additionally, she has taught for many years at the Marasleio Teachers' Training School, at PEK, in international Summer Schools, in numerous teacher training seminars, in creative writing seminars of the National Book Centre of Greece, and more. She has designed and implemented educational programs for the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, among others. She is the departmental coordinator for 10 Erasmus programs in collaboration with various European universities. She has participated with presentations (and as an invited keynote speaker) in numerous scientific conferences in Greece and abroad. Her studies in Greek, English, and French have been published in collective volumes, scientific journals, and conference proceedings in Greece and abroad. She has published standalone volumes/monographs and has edited the publication of academic books and collective volumes. In collaboration with D. Bechlikoudi, she has translated and edited the Greek edition of the book by M. Benton & G. Fox, Teaching Literature: From Nine to Fourteen Years Old (forthcoming) and has edited the Greek edition of the classic book by L.M. Rosenblatt, The Reader, the Text, the Poem (Gutenberg, forthcoming). She is a member of: - the international committee of the annual International Conference THE CHILD AND THE BOOK, which she organized in Athens (Department of Primary Education/National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) in 2014, and an official member of the International Organization TALIS ASSOCIATION (for the teaching of literature and language and the cultivation of intercultural perspective and solidarity), in collaboration with the University of Valencia, Queen Mary University of London, and other European universities; - the editorial team of the Anthology of Literary Texts for the 5th and 6th grades of Primary School, With Reason and Dream (OEDB); - since 2013, the Committee for Literary Awards (Children's Books) of the electronic magazine The Reader (formerly Diavazo).
