CHristoforos Marinos
Christoforos Marinos was born in Athens in 1975 and grew up in Pyrgos of Kymi, Evia. He studied Art History (Critical Theory) at Camberwell College of Arts, The London Institute (1997-2000) and continued his postgraduate studies in Art History (20th century) at Goldsmiths College, University of London (2000-2001), where he attended seminars by Sarat Maharaj (co-curator of Documenta XI) on cultural translation, as well as seminars by curator Chery Smyth on performative writing. From 2001 to 2003, he collaborated with a group of young visual artists who organized exhibitions-actions at Filopappou Hill, Portaria of Pelion, Ithaca, and the Gazon Rouge gallery. He has curated four times for the Rooms organized by Kappatos Art Gallery (Eleni Athanasopoulou, 2002; Rallou Panagiotou, 2003; Leonidas Liampais, 2004; Eva Vretzaki & Poka-Yio, 2005), co-curated the exhibition "Synergy" at the Larissa Contemporary Art Center, and organized the exhibition "Life with Beasts" at the Babel exhibition space (2004). He is part of the editorial team of the magazine futura and has been collaborating with the magazine Babel since 2001. His study "The Orgy as a Cinematic Experience" was published by futura in 2002. He is a member of The Reading Group and, along with Xenia Kalpaktsoglou, curates the visual arts column in Velvet magazine. Since 2005, he has been part of the scientific staff at the National Museum of Contemporary Art. He lives and works in Athens.
