Sebastian Barry

Sebastian Barry was born in Dublin in 1955 and studied at the renowned Trinity College in his hometown. He began his career writing plays such as "Boss Grady's Boys" (1988), "The Steward of Christendom" (1995), "Our Lady of Sligo" (1998), and "The Pride of Parnell Street" (2007). In 1998, he published his first novel, "The Whereabouts of Eneas McNulty" (published in Greek as "Η οδύσσεια του Ινίας ΜακΝάλτυ" by Polis Editions). This was followed by novels such as "Annie Dunne" (2002) and "A Long Long Way" (2005, published in Greek as "Μακριά, πολύ μακριά" by Polis Editions), which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. He was shortlisted again in 2008 with his novel "The Secret Scripture" (published in Greek as "Η μυστική γραφή," translated by Avgoustos Kortos, Kastaniotis Editions, 2009). He has won numerous prestigious awards in Ireland and the UK. In February 2018, he was honored with the highest distinction in Irish Literature, the Laureate for Irish Fiction.
