Ioannis K. Kornarakis

Ioannis Kornarakis was born in Piraeus in 1926. He studied Theology at the Theological School of the University of Athens, Psychopathology and therapeutic clinical applications at the University Psychiatric Clinic of Innsbruck, Christian Pedagogy and Pastoral Care at the University of Strasbourg, and Depth Psychology and pastoral care of the mentally ill at the Roman Catholic School of the University of Munster. In 1960, he submitted his doctoral thesis to the Theological School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on the topic "The Experience of Passion according to the Teaching of the Holy Scriptures." In 1966, he received the title of lecturer from the same school with his work "Neurosis as an Adamic Complex: A Contribution to Pastoral Theology." In 1968, he was elected as an appointed Lecturer, and in 1974, as an Associate Professor by the same school, with the assignment of teaching Pastoral Psychology. In 1978, he was elected as a Full Professor in the Chair of Pastoral Psychology and Confession at the Theological School of the University of Athens, where he served until 1993.
