Giorgos Leonardos

George Leonardos was born in 1937 in Alexandria, Egypt. He first published short stories in 1953 in the daily newspapers of Alexandria, "Tachydromos" and "Anatoli." Although he studied Physics, he became a journalist. He worked in the foreign news section and later as a political editor for the newspapers "Kathimerini," "Naftemporiki," "Apogevmatini," "Eleftherotypia," "Mesimvrini," "Eleftheros Typos," "Ethnos," and as a columnist for "Kerdos." He was the first correspondent for the Athens News Agency in Belgrade in 1964, and later, in 1976, in New York, where he also served as the director of the National Herald of New York. He was a news presenter for ERT and ANTENNA. He undertook journalistic assignments during the Vietnam War, the Iran-Iraq War, the Persian Gulf War, and other conflicts, as well as at international conferences. He is a member of the Union of Editors of Daily Newspapers of Athens and the National Society of Greek Writers. When he is not navigating seas and oceans, historical sites, and national libraries, he retreats to Hydra and writes a novel.
