
Stathis Koutsounis
Stathis Koutsounis was born in Nea Figalia, Olympia, in 1959. He studied law, philology, and classical music. He lives and works in Athens. He made his literary debut in 1987 with the publication of four poems in issue 10 of the magazine Nees Tomes.
He has published the poetry collections: "Studies for Voice and Poetry," Hyacinth 1987, "Harvest of Blood," Smili 1991, "Variations of Black," Delfini 1998, "The Terror of Beauty," Metaichmio 2004, "Insects in Intensive Care," Metaichmio 2008 [nominated for the Poetry Award of the magazine Diavazo], "Body Snapshots," Metaichmio 2014, "In No Man's Land," Metaichmio 2020.
Additionally, he has contributed a philological study on ancient drama and Sophocles in the volume "Sophocles, Philoctetes - Antigone. Introduction: Stathis Koutsounis. Translation: Christos Tsagas," Odos Panos 1999, the study "The Anthology of Texts as a Tool for Approaching an Author," IMB School Publications 2003 (in the volume "The Thought and Speech of I.M. Panagiotopoulos"), the essay "The Poetic Cosmography of Giorgos Georgousis in His Haiku Collections," Gavriilidis 2007 (in the collective volume "The Poetry of Giorgos Georgousis"), the short story "The Marilyn of Akrata," Metaichmio 2003 (in the collective volume "7 Short Stories"), and the micro-story "Cherries," Efimerida ton Syntakton 2019 (in the collective volume "Microwaves. 99+1 Micro-Stories").
He also publishes critical essays, studies, articles, and book reviews in literary magazines and newspapers. His poems have been included in anthologies and translated into English, French, German, Spanish, and Persian. He is a member of the Society of Authors and the Circle of Poets.
