Edward Luttwak was born in 1942 in Transylvania and studied in Italy, England, and the USA. He is a renowned strategic analyst, consultant, and author. He began by focusing on military issues but later expanded his strategic approach to include economics, introducing the new concept of "geo-economics," and now engages with social issues. His books, translated into fourteen languages, include Coup d'Etat (1968), The Grand Strategy of the Roman Empire (1976), The Pentagon and the Art of War (1985), Strategy: The Logic of War and Peace (1987), and The Endangered American Dream (1993). Luttwak is a senior associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington.
