Frank Herbert

Frank Patrick Herbert was born in 1920 in Tacoma, Washington, where he lived with his wife and two sons. He studied at the University of Washington and initially worked as a journalist. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. His writing career began in 1963 when the magazine "Analog" started serializing "Dune," which was widely acclaimed by readers and won the prestigious Hugo and Nebula awards. "Dune" was followed by five sequels, translated into more than twenty languages, and was adapted into a film directed by David Lynch in 1984. In 2000, it was brought to the small screen in a six-hour miniseries that won two Emmy Awards. Among Frank Herbert's works are "Hellstrom's Hive," "The Dosadi Experiment," "Godmakers," "Dragon in the Sea," and others. The central themes of his work include the evolution of the human species, ecology, and social systems. Frank Herbert passed away in 1986, leaving behind extensive notes on the world of "Dune." Based on these, in 1999, the author's son, Brian Herbert, and renowned author Kevin J. Anderson created a new trilogy that serves as a prequel to the classic "Dune."
