Ilias Eythymiopoulos

Ilias Efthymiopoulos was born in 1946 in Athens. He studied natural sciences in Greece and France and holds a Ph.D. In 1981, he became the director of "New Ecology." In 1990, he founded Greenpeace Greece, which he led until 1999. In 2000, he served as Deputy Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning, and Public Works in the Simitis government. Subsequently, until 2014, he headed the Interdisciplinary Institute of Environmental Research. Today, he is the director of the Aegean Energy and Environment Office. In the 1980s, he collaborated with ERT as a producer of television programs and as a scriptwriter for TV documentaries. From 1998 to 2010, he was the president of the Summer Ecological University. From 2002 to 2008, he was the director of the international film festival ECOCINEMA. He has contributed articles to "Anti," "To Vima," "Economic Postman," and "Ta Nea." Notable works from his writing include the books "Window to the Crisis" (Metaichmio, 2015) and "The Butterfly's Dilemma" (Academy of Athens, 2017).
